Brand Spotlight: The Idea Box Kids

The Idea Box Kids bring fun, play-based, child-directed activities into your home and home-learning environment with a variety of small, themed boxes.

The boxes are filled with wood coins that hold activities, ideas, chores, story starters and more—depending on the theme of your Idea Box. The emphasis of Idea Box Kids is on creating developmentally appropriate products that will encourage your child to lead themselves wherever they need to go, while making it easy for you.  Not only do the activities encourage learning through play, but also aim to make play a part in making long-lasting, feel-good memories for you and your children.

Your child will love reaching into the box and pulling out a coin. Not only is it a surprise every single time but it's also secretly educational!

Here are just some of the benefits:

Open-ended Activities
Open-ended activities give your child the perfect opportunity to lead themselves wherever they need to go developmentally. The activities that you will find in your Idea Box can be as long or as short as you want. They are completely flexible. You can start with one of the simple ideas in the box, and then expand on it if you choose. When you let your child lead, they will let you know exactly what needs to happen.

Communication

With every Idea Box, there is a lot of opportunity to talk, inquire, listen and learn, for both the parent and child. If you find that dialogue is not a big part of the activities, do not worry, communication is not always verbal.

Giving Choices

Idea Boxes are meant to be as child-directed as possible. This means that your child will be making a lot of choices. When you give your child choices you are providing an opportunity to build their self-esteem and help grow their decision making skills. Choices also provide an opportunity for them to listen, ask questions, and follow simple directions. These are extremely valuable tools that they will keep with them and use throughout their life.

Encourage Independence

The learning is in the doing. Painful for us parents to watch, but when you feel like doing/fixing/solving something for your child, stop. See if they can problem solve and find a way to make it work.

Simple
Activities and ideas are simple, require little to no prep-work, and use items that you have around the house. If you do not have a specific item, you can substitute something in its place. If an activity is too hard, you can easily adapt it to fit your child.

The boxes are perfect for kids 3 to 10 years old and have themes such as helping, caring, quiet time, bedtime, seasonal, arts & crafts, holidays and many, many more. They are tested by a CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) approved lab (Intertek), and are in complete compliance with all of the CPSIA regulations with sustainable materials. The Idea Box Kids was created by a mom and are always designed and handmade in Wilsonville, Oregon.
